Bittersweet & Beautiful
In this post, we are venturing back out to Hays, Kansas, back to where it all began for me. There are sessions that feel like magic the moment you step behind the camera—but this one, this was something deeper. Photographing my best friend’s engagement in the town where we met, where we grew, and where so many memories were made… it was everything.
We met in college through a mutual friend, and what started as a casual conversation quickly turned into a lifelong friendship. We've been there for each other through the late-night study sessions, the growing pains of early adulthood, heartbreaks, laughter, and all the little moments in between. To now stand behind the camera and capture this new chapter of her life? Bittersweet doesn't even begin to cover it.
Walking through the familiar streets of our college town brought back so many memories—places we laughed until we cried, places we leaned on each other, and now, places that hold the beginning of her forever love story. It felt like time slowed down just enough for us to soak it all in.
The love between her and her fiancé is the kind you can feel just by being around them. There were so many smiles, quiet moments, and looks that said everything without a single word spoken. As I clicked the shutter, I wasn’t just capturing two people in love—I was freezing time on a friendship that has grown alongside a love story that’s just beginning.
It was emotional. It was joyful, and it was one of the greatest honors of my photography journey so far.
